Markets Update:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

U.S. equity futures were little changed Monday night after a strong rally in artificial intelligence-related stocks lifted the major averages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S&P 500 futures edged up 0.02%, while Nasdaq-100 futures gained 0.2%. In Asia, South Korea\u2019s Kospi jumped 2.20%, while the Kosdaq rose 1.12%. Australia\u2019s S&P\/ASX 200 gained 0.30%, Hong Kong\u2019s Hang Seng Index added 0.21%, and mainland China\u2019s CSI 300 climbed 0.83%. Japanese markets were closed for a holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The moves followed a broad rally on Wall Street. The S&P 500 advanced 1.5% for its strongest session since Aug. 4, while the Nasdaq Composite surged 2.3% to its first record close since June. The Dow gained 366 points, or 0.7%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI and semiconductor stocks led the advance. Meta Platforms jumped more than 11%, while Intel and AMD surged 12% and about 10%, respectively. AMD briefly reached a $1 trillion market valuation. Nvidia rose 2%, while Corning gained nearly 6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lower oil prices also supported sentiment. West Texas Intermediate crude fell 4.5% to $95.78 a barrel, while Brent settled more than 3% lower at $100.34.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investors will focus on President Donald Trump\u2019s upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Washington, with AI, tariffs, Iran and rare earth metals expected to feature prominently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
